I'm on vacation!

Feel free to imagine a childish singsong voice for that announcement. Frankly, I'm just short of doing a Snoopy Dance. I spent most of my last day at work rearranging shelves and racks because a) some stuff was in places codes and regulations forbids and b) we have some new equipment coming in and had to figure out where to fit stuff. Plenty of ergonomic considerations to consider and stuff like that. As I commented today, we could use someone with a few years submarine experience to help figure out how to arrange things. It's getting that tight.

But until January 4, all of these things are someone else's problem. Me, I have to get my house ready for Christmas and buckle down to studying Japanese and watching lots of anime. The days are just packed.

And then, on the 4th, I learn how to wrap insulation around exposed pipes and do that for two weeks until returning to the dining hall. Okay, I'm really not very excited about that, but it beats using up all of my vacation time and there are so many much worse chores I could have been assigned. So far, next year looks workable.
