Birthdays and things

Yesterday was my wife's 40th birthday. Probably not nearly as much fun as she'd hoped. She wanted a grand "Over the Hill" party. But she's between jobs, her car is dead, and her partner's mother is sinking fast. And there wasn't much the kids and I could do for her either since she's so far away and we have no money, either. But we did our best with a phone call and cards.
