Alex's birthday went by pretty well. It was just our family, his girlfriend's family and one of his local friends, but as he pointed out, his birthday has usually involved only family. It was nice to get a chance to spend some time with Jenny and her mother - get to know them before we entrust Alex to their care for two weeks. (I had to put my foot down to keep it from getting longer. Alex has a doctor's appointment and has to get ready for school starting. Plus me just being twitchy. He's only fifteen and so forth.)
Amanda came home from her trip to Montreal with her friends. They had a great time although it was inconvenient for them not knowing any French. Amanda had sore feet from walking everywhere in the city.
Trish and I got to talk a little. Mostly, as usual, I listened while she cried and said how sorry she is for hurting me and the kids. Fine, but sorry don't milk the chickens, y'know? She mentioned that she wasn't going to fight me on any of the arrangements, which I'd already figured since there bloody well isn't much to fight over. We each keep what is ours, when I eventually sell the house, she gets half of the money, and meanwhile, we share custody of the remaining minor children (Alex) while I have physical custody and remain in residence.
One week to go. Yeah, I'm kind of nervous, but anxious to get it over with and see if I can't kick myself into finally starting a new life of some sort. I suspect it will not be as easy as that.

I took the placement tests earlier this afternoon. Reading Comprehension, Sentence Structure and Math. I scored in the 90's on all three tests,to my mild surprise. Of course, I was only concerned about the math section and that was much easier than I expected. Simple algebra and stuff.
I was grateful for the Critical Thinking class I took last spring. It taught me about reading the questions carefully to make sure I know what is being asked for and things like that. I have a tendency to skip ahead and jump on answers that I have to fight against.
So anyway, I'm now cleared to not have to take remedial classes. I'm trying to decide if I should take math or something interesting. I guess it all depends on whether I'm going to try for a degree or just take classes for fun and personal enrichment.
