Word From The Southwest
Jul. 29th, 2006 06:56 amEric called last night. He told me I haven't heard from him because a) he's been having trouble with his e-mail and b) he can't find a mailbox. Lame but plausible. I told him to ask his sergeant where the mailbox is located - an approach that hadn't occurred to him. Teenageers!
Otherwise, he's doing well. He's been taking classes in ethics and technical writing while waiting for the next intelligence class to open up. A new class should be starting soon, but he's not expecting to get into that one either. So far, beyond the usual stuff from basic, the army has taught him "hurry up and wait" and "snafu".
In other news, Amanda called from Montreal to say that she got there safely - the night before but she forgot to call. Fortunately, I trust her boyfriend. More or less. Okay, he's one of the few people my dog has not learned to like over time - five or six years! And he also manages to drive Amanda nuts on a regular basis just by being a guy and doing guy things. But other than that, he's not too bad. Just needs to grow up a bit more.
And finally, Alex visited the state capitol with his summer school history class yesterday. The class is being taught by some college students because the official teacher is in the state house of representatives and kind of busy just now. Worrisome. The best thing about the government in New Hampshire is that they almost never do anything. That's what we elect them for.
