The usual foulups, disasters and manifold annoyances. But who cares? I had a nice weekend. For one thing, Alex was busy elsewhere a lot, so I got a lot done on World of Warcraft. For another, I had breakfast Sunday morning with a friend I met on MySpace (it isn't totally evil - just be careful answering your door so to speak.) She's a permanent substitute teacher up in Rochester (next town over from here.) As I said, we had breakfast - Friendly's. Then we took a long walk through my childhood - or at least the neighborhood I grew up in, which with my narration amounted to the same thing. The hospital I was born in, the church I was baptised, etc up through married in, the house I grew up in, all my friends' houses, the places I played and so on.

Sure, I tend to babble when I'm nervous and I'm usually nervous when I'm meeting someone in person for the first time - but it couldn't have been too bad. She said I reminded her of Garrison Keillor. And she's from Detroit originally, so I guess that's a good thing.

She gave me a book which I have yet to start. "The Emperor's Handbook", a newer translation of Marcus Aurelius' "Meditations". Pat says she gives this to lots of people.

Yes, I enjoy her company. She's pleasant to be around and it's long past time I stop whining about being lonely and start doing something about it. Step one taken.
