Vacation Continues
Dec. 19th, 2006 04:44 pmSo far, I'm keeping pretty busy - for vacation that is. Yesterday was dinner with the ex-in-laws. It went as usual except that the cooks at Chili's put way too much black pepper on everything. For me, any is too much, but the only thing they didn't cover with the stuff was the veggies. I scraped most of the pepper off of the corn on the cob, but the chicken was hopeless. So I ate corn and broccoli.
Today, I sent my son out for his PT run. This really isn't a very good neighborhood for running. Narrow streets and lousy sidewalks. Later, I went to feed the vampires. I mean, I donated blood. But the way the Red Cross calls me and sends me notes every time there's a blood drive... Sheesh, let your donating slip for a couple of years and they get relentless. At least now they'll leave me alone for eight weeks. And since the blood drive was at the local National Guard armory, I asked a couple of the soldiers there where a good place to run could be found and they told me where they did their running.
I also hit the library and picked up the latest offerings of Tony Hillerman (Shapeshifter), Terry Brooks (Armageddon's Children), Herbert and Anderson (Hunters of Dune)and a couple of Pink Panther DVD's (the cartoons) that my daughter has requested. Finally, I went online to Barnes and Noble because the x-i-l's had given me a gift card. So I've got "Spirit of Saganami" and "Crown of Slaves" by David Weber, "Jinx HIgh" by Mercedes Lackey and something called "Dragon's Teeth" by some guy up in Maine. (Just teasing, Jim.)
So my reading is taken care of for a week or so, not counting whatever folks give me for Christmas - none of these were on my Christmas list.
Not too bad. Oh, and I drove Alex over to the restaurant where Amanda works after school because they're looking for dishwashers. He has to go back on thursday, probably to fill out the forms and possibly to start working. They fired three dishwashers last weekend. All in all, I'm keeping busy.
