Just stuff
May. 6th, 2007 07:18 amIt's another quiet Sunday mornng. No big plans for the day. Probably time to start getting the yard in shape.
Yesterday, Eric and I went to see my dad. He seemed less aware than the last time I visited him, but he might just have been sleepy. The nurse I talked to claimed that there are signs that he is understanding what people are saying to him - responding to questions with hand squeezes and such. I couldn't test this too much because he didn't have his hearing aid in and I didn't want to shout questions at him since his roommate was napping.
I got a little lost on the way there and ended up in Salem. Had better luck on the way home. Motion sickness medicine didn't seem to help much with my balance problem and made me dangerously groggy, so that's not the answer.
Let's see, Friday at work was the longevity recognition day. Folks who've been there ten, fifteen, twenty, etc years get to hear some speeches about how valuable we all are and a little gift. For twenty years, I got a clock. It's up on the wall over the computer right now. At twenty-five years, I get a rocking chair. I've asked the kids to hold off on giving me grandkids until then since I can't be a proper grandpa without a rocker.
This week is the last week of service at my dining hall. There are major renovations being made and we have to clear out. Which means after we close on friday, I have to spend a couple of days shipping as much food to the other halls as they'll take and then moving everything out of my main storage downstairs so they can take half of my dry storage and freezer space away. Oh, yippee. Then come august, I get to arrange everything in what little space I have left. I've really enjoyed having room to spread out. I'm even going to lose my desk. Once again, my "office" will consist of a little box of suppplies tucked into some odd corner.
