Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Aug. 3rd, 2006 05:24 pmOkay, thursday. (Brownie points for ID'ing the reference - but not big ones, it should be easy.)
Anyway, the weather was much nicer than threatened. Warm and humid instead of hot and muggy. I'm still glad I didn't have to work in the kitchen - but that's standard. Actually, I got stuck in the dishroom for an hour, but it's pretty well ventilated and we only had to run the dish machine sporadically. When it's going full-tilt, that place is a steambath.
Then I got to wash tables and fill fruit bins. UNH gets a lot of mileage out of the "other duties as assigned" line on the end of the job descriptions. But after *that* I got to go over to where I used to work and try to straighten out the mess on their loading dock. Hot and sweaty work, but satisfying because it wasn't at the hell-hole I've been stuck in for the last ten months and I get along great with my old boss.
I finally got in contact with Eric through his MySpace account. He's doing okay, killing time until his school starts up. Meanwhile, a buddy of mine who's in the guard is thinking about going active duty - maybe border patrol, possibly taking military intelligence training. Or maybe retiring - he's got his 20 years in.
Wow, stuff all over the place. Alex finishes up summer school next week and then going on a trip to Prince Edward Island (Isle Saint Jean) with some friends of the family. I have next week off and not a lot of plans. Get my oil changed and the slow leak in my tire fixed. Ride my bike if the weather's right. I don't know, probably just hang out on the internet a lot. Finish up Final Fantasy X-2. Play some guitar, maybe reconstruct some of my old music as I drag it out of memory.
