First Day of School

Today, Alex begins his career as a college student. It was supposed to be yesterday, but the prof couldn't make it or something like that, so he starts today instead.

I'm so proud of him. He has gotten here all on his own, without my having to push and nag. So different from his high school days. Now, he has a plan and is tackling each step as it comes with his eyes on a goal. Wish I'd been more like that.

The Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Tomorrow, I go back to work. It has been a damn long 4 1/2 weeks of vacation. Makes me dread retirement.

It has been a time of fun and boredom. Of triumph and tragedy. And scheduling rides is going to be horrific. Everyone working. Amanda and Alex in school. Wild and woolly times ahead. But I've gotten to the point where World of Warcraft no longer holds my attention and there's nothing on TV and I've read every book I own at least twice (except for a few total dogs,) and I have no money for new ones just yet and the selection at the Somersworth Library has run dry...

Yes, I'm ready to go back to work. Willing and almost eager. Of course, I have to find out what my new schedule will be like but hey, at least there'll be people there to talk to and things to talk about.
